An enhanced rebate of up to $1,250 per ton is available for customers replacing primary electric resistance heat, though pre-verification is required before installation begins. Federal tax credit: The federal Section 25C Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit, which had provided a 30% tax credit on qualifying heat pump installations, up to $2,000, expired on December 31, 2025, and is no longer available for systems installed in 2026. Homeowners who installed a qualifying system in 2025 may still claim the credit when filing their 2025 federal tax return.

New Hampshire HEAR program: New Hampshire’s Home Electrification and Appliance Rebate program is anticipated to launch in mid-summer 2026 and may provide additional incentives for qualifying installations. Per the NH Department of Energy, rebates will only be available for projects initiated after the program officially opens.
